New
York Public Library Chatham Square Branch Library
The firm and the NYPL celebrated the opening
of the Chatham Branch Library, a historic branch, originally
designed by McKim, Mead and White in 1903.
Hom+Goldman are the designers of this sensitive renovation and
were commended by the NYC Fine Arts Commission for their restraint
in the design of this landmark. Hom+Goldman has updated the
facility, while maintaining the historic nature of the building.
The work included the integration of an entirely new HVAC system,
providing air-conditioning for the first time. ADA issues were
critical, and the architects incorporated an elevator and many
safety features into the structure.
